For 70 years, NASDSE has been providing dedicated leadership to continuously improve educational services and outcomes for students with disabilities in the states and federal territories. Focusing on aligned policies and practices to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities is critical to ensure their full participation and contribution in education, employment and society.

NASDSE’s members, the state directors of special education, continue to face evolving challenges of implementing state and federal statues and regulations while striving for a balanced system of accountability that supports a focus on results for each and every child. NASDSE offers support through a range of activities including: targeted training to address current issues, technical assistance, policy analysis , research, cutting-edge publications, specialized websites, national initiatives and collaborative partnerships to enhance problem-solving at the local, state and national level.
